"From Geneva to Istanbul, from Istanbul to the world…"
About
Born in Geneva, the What is Gender? exhibition is an international artistic endeavour questioning the very notion of gender through the lens of contemporary art. First inspired by the exhibition Queer – Diversity is in our Nature at the Natural History Museum in Bern, curator Gilles Grassioulet initiated its debut edition in Geneva. Following its success, Istanbul—long a cultural crossroads between East and West—emerged as the natural stage for its second edition.
For this landmark exhibition, SAN Creative served as press sponsor, actively supported the curatorial process, and assumed full responsibility for social media management. Working alongside curators Gilles Grassioulet and Şanel Şan Sevinç, we crafted the communication strategy and amplified the exhibition’s voice across both traditional and digital spheres.
We strengthened press relations and media visibility,
We curated and managed the exhibition’s digital presence,
We collaborated closely with curators to ensure Istanbul’s contribution resonated within the international art scene.
Through this collaboration, What is Gender? Istanbul transcended its role as an exhibition, becoming a platform where art confronts norms, expands freedoms, and opens new spaces of dialogue on gender, identity, and transformation.
